Gaudin will likely start in place of Joba Chamberlain, who Yankees manager Joe Girardi wants to give extra rest to in the second half of the season. Girardi broke the news prior to Tuesday game's before he had informed Chamberlain of the decision. He hadn't planned to, but appeared hamstrung by a series of questions about Sunday's starter. "There are going to be times where he is going to be on five days, and then there are other times where he might get a little extra rest," Girardi said of Chamberlain. "That's all part of it." Gaudin was 4-10 with a 5.23 ERA for the Padres this season. |
