Yankees pitcher Ian Kennedy threw off a mound for the first time since undergoing surgery on May 12 to remove an aneurysm from his right biceps.

Kennedy threw 25 pitches during the session on Tuesday, and plans to throw a second session on Friday.

The 24-year-old right-hander hopes to pitch in a major league game before the end of the season.
