There is a very real chance that Jarrod Washburn could return to the Mariners as a free agent this winter.

Seattle traded Washburn to Detroit just a few hours before last Friday's non-waiver trade deadline.

Jim Street of MLB.com believes that Washburn's return will depend on how Seattle's rotation looks at the end of the season.

Washburn has made it clear that the Mariners will be among his preferred destinations if he becomes a free agent.
