Mets rookie Jonathan Niese left Wednesday afternoon's win over the Cardinals with a strained hamstring.

Niese suffered the injury while covering first base, and then collapsed when trying to throw a practice pitch.

He needed assistance to leave the mound in the second inning, and the pitcher joins a long list of injured teammates.
