Diamondbacks right-hander Brandon Webb will have season-ending surgery on his right shoulder on Monday. The Daily Independent (Ashland, Ky.) reported the news on Sunday. Webb played catch this week for the first time since mid-June, but still felt discomfort in his throwing shoulder. He met with specialist Dr. Keith Meister and ultimately decided to undergo surgery. The pitcher's contract expires at the end of the season, but the D-backs hold an option for 2010 at $8.5 million, or they can buy out the option year for $2 million.
