A league executive has told ESPN.com's Jayson Stark that the asking price for Padres first baseman Adrian Gonzalez is "astronomical."

When asked what astronomical meant, the executive replied: "Three times the asking price on [Roy] Halladay."

The Red Sox are believed to be heavily pursuing Gonzalez, as well as both Halladay and Indians catcher Victor Martinez.
