The injury bug has hit the Mets so hard that manager Jerry Manuel mentioned using Livan Hernandez as an option as first or third base.

"He's a guy that we feel, if need be, could possibly do that," Manuel said of Hernandez being a fill-in fielder.

Hernandez has a career .229 average, and could also be used as a pinch-hitter.
