Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano allowed three runs over six innings and helped his own cause with a solo home run in the fourth inning on Sunday.

The homer was the third for Zambrano this season.

Chicago defeated St. Louis 7-3 in the important NL Central battle.

The right-hander also recorded seven strikeouts.
