Twins slugger Justin Morneau says he has declined an invitation to participate in this month's Home Run Derby.

The event will be held Monday in St. Louis, the site for this year's All--Star festivities.

Morneau won last year's competition at Yankee Stadium, and Minnesota manager Rod Gardenhire says he is happy to hear that the first basemen will be sitting this one out.
