Mets third baseman David Wright admitted on Sunday night that he was in dire need of some rest.

Coming off a sweep at the hands of the rival Phillies, Wright and the Mets were off on Monday.

Wright is hitting just .125 (5-for-40) with two extra-base hits and a 12 strikeouts in his past 10 games.

"It's just been a grind," Wright said. "It'll be nice to get this day off [today] and hopefully finish strong before the All-Star break, then use a little bit of that momentum after the All-Star break."
