Johan Santana did all he could, but the Mets couldn't avoid a sweep at the hands of the Phillies on Sunday.

"I did everything I could, but they were better," Santana said. "I was trying to give them a chance to win, but in the end it came down to a couple of pitches. They did everything right the whole series."

Philadelphia outscored New York 13-3 in the three-game sweep, and extended their lead over the Mets in the NL East to four games.
