Vernon Wells was not surprised when Cito Gaston called him into the manager's office Wednesday morning.

"He's always been straight up and straightforward with me," Wells said. "Since day one, he's called us into his office and told us how he's felt about different things. It's been an open relationship."

Wells will move down in the lineup and Adam Lind will bat third for the foreseeable future.
