Kevin Kernan of the New York Post wrote on Tuesday that the Mets should try to swing a sizable deal to prevent from falling behind in the NL East.
Carlos Lee, of the last-place Astros, is an option, but will make $18.5 million annually over the next few years.
Kernan also listed Chicago's Jermaine Dye and Washington's Nick Johnson as potential options.
