Gary Sheffield isn't overly concerned about his achy right knee. Mets manager Jerry Manuel admitted that Sheffield might not be available to play in the field after they conclude an interleague series in Baltimore. The outfielder is expected to have an MRI before Thursday. "I do know he's struggled the last week or so with that [knee pain]," Manuel said. "After that Florida series at home, he began to feel some discomfort there and has been trying to play through it for the most part." Sheffield legged out a pair of infield hits against the Yankees on Sunday. "No, I'm fine," Sheffield said. "[The MRI] is just protecting [the Mets]." |
