The Indians defeated the Royals in the bottom of the tenth inning after Shin-Soo Choo's line drive struck a bird. Kansas City's Coco Crisp thought he would have a chance to catch the ball, but it was deadened after striking a gull and rolled past the center fielder. Cleveland's Mark DeRosa scored from second base on the play to give his team a 4-3 victory. "Crazy things happen in this game," Crisp said. "It was hit so sharply, I felt like I had a chance. You never know what the heck is going to happen." The stunned bird flopped around before finally flying off.
