Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano helped his own cause in Chicago's 2-1 win over Cincinnati on Friday night. Zambrano pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing no runs on two hits. He struck out seven, while walking five. He also slugged a home run in the fifth inning, giving the Cubs a 2-0 lead. "I felt good," said Zambrano, who didn't allow a hit until the fifth inning. "Thank God we won the game. I'm happy about the 100th win. It makes me proud, but the most important thing is we won. After my last start, I felt bad about what happened." He last won on May 3. Time on the disabled list and a six-game suspension delayed several attempts to record his 100th win. "Zambrano pitched really, really well -- really well," Cubs manager Lou Piniella said. "He got a little tired at the end."
