Two former top overall selections in MLB?s First-Year Player Draft, Joe Mauer (2001) of the Minnesota Twins and Justin Upton (2005) of the Arizona Diamondbacks, have been named the winners of the Major League Baseball Players of the Month for May.

Mauer hit .414 with 11 homers during the month of May. Mark Teixeira was the runner-up for the award.

Upton hit .373 with a slugging percentage of .709 and seven homers.
