The Red Sox are ?close to the top, if not at the top? of the list of teams just released veteran Tom Glavine would pitch for, according to a source close to Glavine. The 43-year-old Billerica native was released by the Braves yesterday as he was getting close to concluding a rehab stint for Atlanta.
The Red Sox currently have plenty of starting pitching, with Clay Buchholz in the minors, John Smoltz rehabbing and Brad Penny a possible trading chip.
