Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia says that he became a power hitter last season by accident.

He hit 17 home runs last season, more than all but two American League second baseman.

"I'm not trying to hit home runs, but they happen," Pedroia said. "The only thing I'm trying to do is have a good at-bat."
