Jeremy Jeffress has been struggling mightily at Class AA Huntsville, was sent by the Milwaukee Brewers to Class A Brevard County in an attempt to find his way again. Jeffress was 1-3 with a 7.57 ERA in eight starts with Huntsville, with 26 hits and 33 walks allowed in 27 1/3 innings. Jeffress was the Brewers' first-round draft pick in 2006. "Like anyone else, he has to learn to command the fastball," said farm director Reid Nichols, who met with Jeffress to discuss the reassignment. "We went over what was expected of him. "It's not going to be a short-term thing. He understood why we're doing this. He's going to have to be more frugal with his pitches. He's been getting his pitch counts up too high early in games. With the stuff he's got, he should be more aggressive in the strike zone." As for Jeffress' status in the system, Nichols said, "As far as success, he has gone backwards. As far as his stuff, he still has the best stuff in the organization. Things kind of snowballed on him." Jeffress' agent, Josh Kusnick, said Jeffress would respond appropriately to the situation. "This is just a temporary setback in Jeremy's development," Kusnick said. "Jeremy's going to tackle this challenge head-on like he has every challenge in his life.
