Padres first baseman Adrian Gonzalez has a home run in five straight games, one shy of the franchise's record.

Gonzalez leads baseball with 15 home runs, and has hit a total of six during the streak.

"We're seeing the emergence in one of the best players in the National League," Padres manager Bud Black said Friday night. "He's seeing the ball and taking very good swings. He can hit the ball line to line."

Eleven of his home runs have come on the road, with the other four coming at spacious Petco Park in San Diego.
