Phil Hughes fired six shutout innings to beat the Detroit Tigers by a score of 11-0. He allowed two singles and two walks, striking out six and reclaiming, for the moment, his reputation.

?That was the old Phil Hughes that we need him to be,? said catcher Jose Molina, whose grand slam capped a 10-run seventh inning. ?If he keeps throwing that way, he?s going to be here for a long time.?

?There were points last year ? I?m not going to lie ? I was pretty lost,? he said. ?I felt like I had forgotten how to pitch. Things weren?t falling into place for me. I just tried to keep working as hard as I could.?
