The Marlins defeated the Nationals 3-2 on Friday to improve their record to 9-1, the best start to a season in franchise history.

Jeremy Hermida hit an RBI infield single in the 10th inning to push Florida past Washington.

According to the Associated Press, 17 other teams have started a season with a 9-1 or 10-0 record; nine of those teams went to the postseason.
