Hideki Matsui is trying to get healthy in time for the 2009 season, which could be his last with the Yankees.

Matsui is in the final year of his contract, and has had difficulty remaining healthy over the last few seasons.

"I would be lying if I said I don't think about it," Matsui said about his pending free agency. "It would be the ideal situation that the Yankees feel they need me. I am trying not to think about it and just focusing on this season."

There are several options for Matsui, who could re-sign with New York, join another Major League team, return to Japan, or simply retire.
