Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia missed Team USA's game against Puerto Rico on Saturday with a strained left oblique.

He is expected to leave Miami, where the World Baseball Classic game was being held, and travel to Fort Myers to be examined by Boston team doctors on Sunday.

"Obviously, I'm upset," the second baseman said. "If it's really nothing, if it's a couple of days, then I'll definitely be back Sunday after I get checked out and continue playing. But it's up to the Red Sox."
