The Mets have made initial contract proposals to free-agent catchers Ramon Hernandez and Bengie Molina. "I let them know that I have two offers out there," Minaya said Friday in his first public comments since the Delgado trade. "They're both very good catchers. We might possibly go the trade route as well." Minaya acknowledged that more negotiating likely will be required to land either catcher. The Mets appear to prefer Hernandez over Molina, and both players figure to receive three-year contracts for about $7 million per season. The Devil Rays' Toby Hall and Marlins' Paul Lo Duca both can be had in a trade.
