The Seattle Mariners have increased their pursuit of Ken Griffey, Jr., two baseball sources told ESPN.com.

Griffey is seeking a one-year, $5 million contract.

RealGM Note: Griffey was ranked 218th in season FIC in 2008 and 'deserved' to make $4.25 million.
