Steelers safety Troy Polamalu, who will battle in Super Bowl XLIII on Sunday night, had the opportunity to play professional baseball in the Braves organization.

Atlanta scouted Polamalu as a center fielder as a high schooler in Oregon.

"It's not like I discovered him, but his athletic ability made you pay attention," said former scout Kurt Kemp. "You could see he was a good, strong, stout young man. You could envision him, with the right development, to be a good baseball player. I thought his strength projected very well with the wood bat."
