Tigers' manager Jim Leyland knows he'll be on the hot seat once the 2009 season begins.

"I'm really looking forward to the 2009 season. I think it's a very important season for me. I want to get it out in the open about my contract situation, because the media has asked," Leyland said. "I'd like to work past 2009, but this is real simple.

"If we do well this year, I'll be managing the Tigers. If we don't, I won't be. That's as simple as it is. I'm a big boy; I can handle that."
