According to a report on Friday night, the Mets may have sweetened their offer to free-agent pitcher Oliver Perez.

The report comes at a strange time, after the team signed pitchers Tim Redding and Freddy Garcia. The move led many to believe that Perez had become less important to New York.

The report, by SI.com, states that the Mets "are believed to have improved" their original offer, which was for three years and $30 million.
