The Cubs avoided arbitration with reliever Kevin Gregg, signing him to a one-year, $4.2 million deal.

The only remaining arbitration-eligible player for the Cubs is Michael Wuertz, who figures to sign before his case reaches an arbitrator.

RealGM Note: Gregg was ranked 157th in season FIC and 'deserved' to make $6.2M.

Gregg saved 61 games over the past two seasons and has been solid although not quite spectacular with a SWHIP of during that time frame of 0.3667, which does not compare favorably to closers like Brad Lidge and Kerry Wood, who were at -0.087 and -0.076 respectively.
