Felix Hernandez, who was eligible for arbitration for the first time, signed a one-year contract worth $3.8 million with the Mariners. The Mariners and the right-hander have explored multiyear deals over the last two offseasons but without success. Hernandez can't become a free agent until after the 2011 season. RealGM Note: Hernandez was 81st in season FIC and 'deserved' to make $10M. He had a 3.45 ERA and struck out 175 batters in what was a bounce back season in some regards. He is still having difficulties from his command, which is separating him from the true elite. Click here to read what other arbitration eligible players should be making for 2009
