Michael Young is not returning phone calls from GM Jon Daniels, but he is willing to be a mentor to Elvis Andrus, who is taking his position at shortstop.

"What has my track record been for years on helping young players?" Young asked Friday. "I will stand on that record. I want to help this young man, because I like him and because I know how hard it is to play shortstop in the big leagues."
