Negotiations between the Mets and free agent pitcher Derek Lowe are expected to intensify this week.

New York has made a three-year contract offer worth about $36 million to Lowe, who is their preferred addition among starters.

The Braves, Phillies, and Red Sox are among the other teams interested in Lowe.
