Jeff Moorad, an Orange County resident, has reportedly "agreed in principle" to buy the Padres from software mogul John Moores.

If the sale of the Padres goes through, the price will exceed $400 million, according to a major-league source.

Moores put up about $80 million to buy the Padres in December 1994.
