Kenny Lofton has denied a rumor that he tried to keep CC Sabathia from signing with the Yankees.

"I texted CC one time after he agreed in principle to the deal and jokingly said, 'That's a lot of money, I want some of it,' " Lofton said. "I never, never, never talked to CC before the deal. Somebody is lying about me, and I don't appreciate people lying about me."
