The Athletics have reportedly offered free agent shortstop Rafael Furcal a four-year deal worth $40 million.

The Dodgers, who declined to offer Furcal arbitration earlier this month, remain interested but do not appear to be close to Oakland's proposal.

Oakland offered Furcal a four-year deal earlier this month that was rumored to be worth $36 million. He rejected the deal, but negotiations with the team continued.
