The A's appear to have re-emerged as the front-runner in the race to sign free-agent shortstop Rafael Furcal.

Fox Sports has reported that the A's have upgraded their original four-year offer in an effort to land Furcal, who rejected their initial four-year offer.

Last week during the winter meetings, Furcal's agent Paul Kinzer identified the A's, Dodgers, Blue Jays, and Royals as the four finalists to land him.
