Torre Pitches To Pettitte; Boston Interested

New York Daily News - Andy Pettitte is still talking with the Yankees about a contract, but the Dodgers and Red Sox have entered the race as well.

Joe Torre said he would happily recruit his former player to Los Angeles, but it's clear that a return to the Bronx remains Pettitte's preference.

"You bet," Torre said. "Andy Pettitte is a stand-up guy. He's one of those guys that finds a way to get things done."

The Boston Globe reported Tuesday that the Red Sox "have expressed some interest" in Pettitte, although a source said it would be "an extreme long shot" for the veteran to sign with his longtime rival team. [READ]
