The Nationals are mulling over an offer to free-agent first baseman Mark Teixeira, who is one of the most coveted players on the market.

On Monday, the opening day of baseball's winter meetings, General Manager Jim Bowden said the Nationals are involved in discussions with "three to five" top free agents.

Teixeira's price tag could reach $200, which has led many to believe that the Nationals will eventually lose out on on the slugger.
