The Mets have reached an agreement with Francisco Rodr?guez on a three-year, $37 million contract.

Rodr?guez will be the Mets' new closer and immediately bolsters a bullpen that was among the worst in baseball.

The deal will not become official until Rodr?guez passes a physical.

Mets' general manager Omar Minaya met with K-Rod shortly after arriving in Las Vegas. Rodr?guez accepted the team's offer less than 48 hours later.

Rodr?guez had a major league record 62 saves for the Angels in the 2008 season.
