John Smoltz is reportedly way ahead of schedule as he continues his rehabilitation from shoulder surgery and eyes pitching in 2009.

"Oh, he'll be back ? no doubt in mind," Manager Bobby Cox said after watching Smoltz throw off a mound for the first time since June.

"John's on Cloud 9. No pain at all. None. Zero pain. Man, he's way ahead of schedule," Cox added.

Smoltz is a free agent.
