Blue Jays' GM JP Riccardi said in an interview Thursday with the Canadian Press that, "it looks like we're going to lose (A.J) Burnett," and replacing him with a hurler of comparable skills may not be possible given Toronto's new payroll restraints.
Ricciardi made the comments days before baseball's winter meetings begin in Vegas.
Burnett, 31, opted out of the final two years of his five-year, $55-million US contract with the Toronto Blue Jays.
