The Giants and Marlins have discussed a trade that would send left-hander Jonathan Sanchez to Florida for hard-hitting infielder Jorge Cantu.

The Giants have inquired about some others who could possibly play third base for them, as well, including the Brewers' superb young shortstop J.J. Hardy. However, it appears Milwaukee has little desire to move Hardy, making the Giants look into Cantu.
