Red Sox Will Battle Yanks For Burnett

New York Daily News - The Red Sox reportedly plan to be a major player for free agent A.J. Burnett, whom the Yankees have tabbed as one of their top targets.

A report surfaced Tuesday that the Yankees were preparing a five-year, $80 million offer for Burnett, but a team official shot down the figure, calling it "nonsense."

Regardless, the Yankees will still make an offer at some point to Burnett, who reportedly has the Blue Jays' four-year, $54 million deal on the table. [READ]
