Pending Sale Will Alter Cubs' Winter

Chicago Tribune - The Cubs may not be able to spend millions of dollars in free agency this winter due to the possible sale of the team.

That means GM Jim Hendry will have to be creative when making moves this offseason.

"We don't know if the team is going to be sold this winter, and I don't see us getting into any big spending in the free-agent market," Manager Lou Piniella recently told the New York Daily News. "We need to get more athletic and younger, and we're probably going to have to fill our needs through trades." [READ]
