Major League Baseball's attendance dropped by 1.1 percent in 2008, which ended a run of four-straight record-setting seasons.

Baseball finished with 78.6 million total fans and an average of 32,539, down from 79.5 million and a 32,785 average in 2007.

Attendance could be down again next year when the New York Yankees and Mets move into smaller ballparks.
