Helton Undergoes Successful Surgery On Lower Back

Todd Helton underwent arthroscopic surgery Tuesday afternoon designed to remove the pressure a bulging disk in his lower back has put on a nerve, creating pain and numbness in Helton's left leg.

Dr. Robert Watkins, considered one of the nation's premier back specialists, performed the surgery at Marina del Rey (Calif.) Hospital and called it "a success."
