Maine, out since late August with a bone spur in his right shoulder, threw a simulated game prior to Monday night's loss to the Cubs. "I felt fine," said Maine. "I thought the ball came out of my hand a little better. There's not much more I can do. There's not much pain, so I'm fine. I think I'm good to go." Manager Jerry Manuel was impressed, as well. "He threw very well," Manuel said. "I was impressed with the life he had on a number of pitches. It's a situation where we can be a little more optimistic at this point. (But) it depends on how he responds and those types of things." |
