Beltran emerged from the dugout in the seventh inning to hit, shortly after a pinch hitter was announced. "I was expecting a Willis Reed, man," Manager Jerry Manuel said. Beltran had the wind knocked out of him and hurt his left knee when he crashed into the outfield wall while catching Mark DeRosa's long drive in the top of the seventh. "I hit my elbow into my rib cage, and I had trouble breathing, but I'm more concerned about my knee because it's swollen and it hurts," Beltran said. "I don't expect to have a day off. We're in a situation where we have to play." |
